Barclays Premier League 2010-2011: Statistical Analysis B-)

 Top Scorers (Players)

The rivalry between Manchester's top football teams continues as both United's Berbatov and City's Tevez topped the Barclays Premier League goal scoring table for the season with 21* goals each, meaning both have claimed the honour. Berbatov and Tevez will now each receive a Barclays Golden Boot trophy and will be given £20,000 each by Barclays to donate to a charity of their choice.

Goals Galore

Barclays Premier League 2010-2011 season set a new record with 1,063 goals scored beating the previous record of 1,060 set in the 1999/2000 season. Wohoo!

The chosen Van
Here's an interesting question. Who was the most efficient goal-scorer of the season? No, it's not Tevez. Naah, not Berbatov. Robin Van Persie. (Say whaaaat?). YES, the Arsenal sharpshooter banged in 18 league goals at an average of one every 98.2 minutes, making him the most efficient striker of the Premier League.
Learn to stay fit, Robin, learn to stay fit.

Top Scorers (teams)

The Premier League Champions were also the top scorers of the league with 78 goals, followed by the Gunners with 72. Chelsea were third with 69 goals, City (60) and Liverpool (59) were fourth and fifth, respectively.

No Baines, No gains
Everton left-back Leughton Baines supplied 249 crosses from open play (six more than second best Stewart Downing of Aston Villa) and also didn't miss a single minute of action throughout all 38 games. Respect.

The Wingmen
Nani was the supplier of the season with 14 goal assists to his name. Wigan's Charles N'Zogbia, however, had the maximum dribble attempts- 301 in total!

Kevin Foul-er
Bolton's Kevin Davies has broken the record for the most number of fouls in a season- 123! Easy, bro.

You'll Never Foul Again
Yes, Liverpool has finally won something. Lucas Leiva (Yeah, the one Shebby Singh called talent-less) ended the season with 111 clean tackles. No fair play award for him, though.

The Young and the Restless
Villa winger Ashley Young was fouled 96 times this season, bechaara. His team-mate Darren Bent was flagged offside 67 times, 20 more than Peter Odemwingie.

EPIC FAIL
Sunderland's Steed Malbranque. Shots on goal = 44. Goals = 0. Sorry, bro. Work on the shooting.
